Map My Mole has been designed by dermatologists to meet the increasing demand for skin lesion assessments. Most GPs are not confident in using Dermoscope and fear missing a skin cancer. As a consequence, most local dermatology departments are overwhelmed with Two-Week Wait (2WW) referrals. The knock-on effect is all routine dermatology referrals are delayed and delayed. GPs are having to manage patients on a routine waiting list for months before accessing secondary care, often having to write expedite letters and offer additional appointments
What is a Dermoscope?
A Dermoscope is a medical tool used by dermatologists and other medical professionals to examine the skin closely. It is also known as a dermatoscope. Dermoscopes are available in various shapes, sizes, and features. The use of dermoscopy has become an important tool for early detection of skin cancer and improving diagnostic accuracy.
What do you use?
We use a mobile version of dermoscope called Dyplend to take a picture for remote dermatologist assessment - Teledermatology. The Dyplens was designed in New Zealand and went through two design phases. It was initially trialled in one of New Zealand’s top hospitals for skin cancer. It has subsequently been put through it's paces in the UK and found to be capable of capturing images that are perfect for remote skin lesion assessment.
What is Teledermatology?
Teledermatology refers to the practice of dermatology using telecommunication technologies. It involves the remote diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions through the use of digital images, video consultations, and other forms of telecommunication. It reduces travel time and costs associated with in-person visits. It can also provide quicker access to dermatological expertise, potentially leading to earlier diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, it allows dermatologists to efficiently manage a larger number of patients. It is important to note that teledermatology has its limitations. Some skin conditions may require physical examination or biopsy, which cannot be done remotely.

Safe, quick, pain free blemish removal
Blemish, Sun Spot, Skin Tag & Mole Removal
We can only remove moles that have been examined by a doctor and identified as safe for removal without the need for a histology report. This must be carried out prior to your appointment using Dermatologist Report service. Skin tags, majority of sun spots and benign moles can be safely removed without the need for medical examination. We would never work on 'suspicious blemish', your safety is always a priority.
How does the treatment work?
We use state of the art plasma technology. No blades are used and therefore no stitches are required which speeds up the healing process. We use a very effective topical numbing cream to help to minimise any discomfort. Our clients have rated the discomfort level of this treatment as minimal to none.
Removal of moles is permanent and doesn't cause scaring.
Skin Tag Removal
We can remove skin tags instantly, the treatment is quick, pain free and eliminates skin tags without the need for further treatment. Skin tags are harmless, non-cancerous growths on the skin often appearing on the neck, shoulders and arms. Skin tags can catch on clothing and get in the way of everyday life.
This procedure is simple, non-invasive, non-surgical and a great way of effectively removing unwanted lesions without causing injury to the skin. There is no risk of scarring.
Sun Spot Removal
Sun spots and age spots are medically known as solar lentigines and appear as darkened patches on the skin. They most commonly appear on the areas of the body which have been more exposed to the sun ie the face, hands, shoulders and arms. When the plasma energy is applied to the sun spot it releases the darkened pigment which is then wiped off your skin. Although sun spots can be harmless, they are not cosmetically appealing and therefore you may choose to remove them. You may require more than one treatment if your sun spots are particularly dark.
Scar Reduction
Scar reduction treatments at our clinic using Fibroblast Plasma Pen can dramatically reduce acne scars, stretch marks and scars following surgery. Scar formation is the body’s natural response to any injury or surgery. Depending on the genesis and type of scar we may suggest a combine teraphy with advanced Dermapen4 protocol to obtain best results.
What happens after treatment?
Do not touch the treated area as you need to allow it to form a scab and use provided aftercare
Do not cover the treated area
No swimming, saunas or steam rooms until the treated area is completely healed
Only use provided medicated make up
The scab may be present for up to two weeks depending on the size of the lesion we have removed
As soon as the scab flakes it is normal to have hypopigmentation on the area. Therefore, an SPF50 is essential – the pigmentation will settle over the coming months
